About us

The Association.

The Federal Association of German Pewterers e. V. unites the master workshops that keep a centuries-old craft alive — run entirely by volunteers, carried by the community.

Structure

Volunteer-run.
Self-governed.

The Federal Association of German Pewterers e. V. is organised as a volunteer-run, self-governing body. The association's office is located in Georgensgmünd in Bavaria — at the heart of German pewtersmithing.

The association sees itself as the voice and community of master workshops — not as an administrative apparatus. What drives us is the conviction that this craft is a social necessity: culturally, socially and economically.

Goals & Objectives

Keeping the craft in public consciousness.

One of the association's primary goals is to foster intellectual discourse around the themes of contemporary and traditional craftsmanship — both within the association and between craftspeople and the wider public.

The Federal Association sees in its craft a social necessity that fills a niche — culturally, socially and economically — that no other sector can cover.

Our Work

How we support the craft.

  • 01
    Press & Public Relations

We make the pewterer's craft visible — through press work, symposia and publications on questions of contemporary and traditional craftsmanship.

  • 02
    Museums, Galleries & Education

We maintain dialogue with museums, galleries and educational institutions, and exchange expertise with associations at the national and international level.

  • 03
    Training & Professional Development

We support our members on training matters and foster the next generation in a craft that deserves particular care and attention.

  • Pewter casting is a traditional craft threatened with extinction. I am a member of the Federal Association to help keep this craft alive.
    Hinrich Röders Soltau
  • My aim is to bring pewter in contemporary design closer to younger people in particular, and to awaken their interest in our beautiful, ancient craft.
